Equipment

  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • Tongs
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring spoons
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Spoon or spatula

Ingredients

  • 4 pork chops bone-in or boneless
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce optional, for depth
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme optional

Instructions

Step 1: Season the Pork Chops

  • Pat the pork chops dry with a paper towel. Season both sides with salt, pepper, paprika, and onion powder.

Step 2: Heat the Pan

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the pork chops.

Step 3: Sear the Pork

  • Cook the pork chops for about 4–5 minutes on each side until they develop a golden-brown crust.

Step 4: Add Butter and Garlic

  • Reduce heat slightly. Add butter and minced garlic to the pan. Let the butter melt and become fragrant.

Step 5: Add Brown Sugar

  • Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the pork chops. Add soy sauce if using. Let the sugar melt and form a glaze.

Step 6: Coat and Cook

  • Spoon the melted brown sugar mixture over the pork chops as they cook. Continue cooking for another 5–7 minutes until the chops are fully cooked and coated in the glaze.

Step 7: Rest and Serve

  • Remove from heat and let the pork chops rest for a few minutes before serving.
