Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup warm water
  • teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup oats for topping

Instructions
 

Step 1: Activate yeast

  • In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

Step 2: Mix wet ingredients

  • Add honey, molasses, and melted butter to the yeast mixture. Stir well.

Step 3: Combine dry ingredients

  • In another bowl, mix whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt.

Step 4: Form dough

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.

Step 5: Knead

  • Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Step 6: First rise

  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled.

Step 7: Shape

  • Divide the dough into small rolls and shape them into oval pieces.

Step 8: Second rise

  • Place on a baking tray, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.

Step 9: Add topping

  • Brush lightly with water and sprinkle oats on top.

Step 10: Bake

  • Bake at 190°C (375°F) for 18–20 minutes until cooked through.

Step 11: Cool and serve

  • Let cool slightly and serve warm with butter.
