Equipment

  • Fish spatula
  • Tongs
  • Mixing bowl
  • Basting brush
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Plate for resting fish

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets skin-on, about 150–180g each
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme optional
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Marinade

  • In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, garlic, honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Whisk until smooth and slightly glossy.

Step 2: Season the Salmon

  • Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt and black pepper on both sides.

Step 3: Marinate Briefly

  • Brush the marinade over the salmon fillets. Let them sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Step 4: Preheat the Grill

  • Heat your grill to medium-high. Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.

Step 5: Grill Skin-Side Down

  • Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the grill. Cook for about 6–7 minutes without moving them.
  • Step 6: Flip Carefully
  • Gently flip the salmon using a fish spatula. Grill for another 3–5 minutes, depending on thickness.

Step 7: Baste and Finish

  • Brush additional marinade over the salmon during the last minute of cooking for extra flavor.

Step 8: Rest and Serve

  • Remove from grill and let rest for 2 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with lemon wedges.
