- 2 salmon fillets 180–200g each
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon mirin optional but recommended
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil for cooking
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch optional, for thicker sauce
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds for garnish
- 2 green onions sliced
Prepare the Sauce
In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, mirin, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, and water. If you prefer a thicker glaze, stir in the cornstarch.
Set aside—this will become your beautiful teriyaki glaze.
Flip Carefully
Gently flip the salmon and cook for another 2–3 minutes.
At this stage, the fish should be nearly cooked through.
Baste and Glaze
As the sauce begins to bubble, spoon it over the salmon repeatedly. This helps build that glossy coating.
Cook for another 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and clings to the fish.
