Equipment

  • Baking dish (9x13-inch works best)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl
  • Pastry brush or spoon
  • Knife
  • Aluminum foil
  • Oven

Ingredients

For the Rolls

  • 1 pack 12 rolls Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 12 slices deli ham
  • 12 slices Swiss cheese or cheddar

For the Butter Glaze

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Rolls

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Without separating the rolls, slice the entire block of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally. Place the bottom half into your baking dish.

Step 2: Layer the Filling

  • Evenly layer the ham slices over the bottom half of the rolls. Then add the cheese slices on top of the ham.
  • Place the top half of the rolls back on.

Step 3: Make the Glaze

  • In a bowl, mix the melted butter, Dijon mustard, honey, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and poppy seeds.

Step 4: Add the Topping

  • Pour or brush the butter mixture evenly over the top of the rolls. Make sure it seeps into the edges and between the slices.

Step 5: Bake

  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for another 5 minutes, or until the tops are golden and slightly crisp.

Step 6: Serve

  • Let the sliders cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve warm.
