For the Chicken Wings
- 2 pounds chicken wings split into flats and drumettes
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
For the Hot Honey Glaze
- ¼ cup honey
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce
For the Hot Honey Rub Seasoning
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Step 1: Prepare the Wings
Pat the chicken wings completely dry using paper towels. Removing excess moisture helps the wings become crisp during cooking.
Place the wings in a large bowl and toss them with baking powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
Step 2: Arrange for Baking
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place a wire rack on top.
Arrange the wings in a single layer, leaving a little space between each piece.
Step 3: Bake the Wings
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
Bake the wings for 20 minutes. Flip them over and continue baking for another 25 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
Step 4: Make the Hot Honey Glaze
While the wings are cooking, combine honey, butter, and hot sauce in a small saucepan.
Heat over low heat until the butter melts completely and the mixture becomes smooth.
Remove from heat.
Step 5: Prepare the Rub
In a small bowl, mix together paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
Stir until thoroughly combined.
Step 7: Add the Seasoning
Step 8: Serve
Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
Pair with ranch dressing, blue cheese dip, celery sticks, or carrot sticks.
