Ingredients

For the Chicken Wings

  • 2 pounds chicken wings split into flats and drumettes
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For the Hot Honey Glaze

  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce

For the Hot Honey Rub Seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Wings

  • Pat the chicken wings completely dry using paper towels. Removing excess moisture helps the wings become crisp during cooking.
  • Place the wings in a large bowl and toss them with baking powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.

Step 2: Arrange for Baking

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place a wire rack on top.
  • Arrange the wings in a single layer, leaving a little space between each piece.

Step 3: Bake the Wings

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Bake the wings for 20 minutes. Flip them over and continue baking for another 25 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  • The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).

Step 4: Make the Hot Honey Glaze

  • While the wings are cooking, combine honey, butter, and hot sauce in a small saucepan.
  • Heat over low heat until the butter melts completely and the mixture becomes smooth.
  • Remove from heat.

Step 5: Prepare the Rub

  • In a small bowl, mix together paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  • Stir until thoroughly combined.

Step 6: Coat the Wings

  • Transfer the hot baked wings to a large bowl.
  • Pour the honey mixture over the wings and toss until every piece is lightly coated.

Step 7: Add the Seasoning

  • Sprinkle the prepared spice rub over the wings.
  • Toss again until the seasoning evenly covers all sides.

Step 8: Serve

  • Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
  • Pair with ranch dressing, blue cheese dip, celery sticks, or carrot sticks.
